A Jack of All Trades

When Fred decided he wanted to come on Bay2Brooklyn as the Loyal Driver, I'm not quite sure he knew what he was getting himself into.

Now we know for the future, the driver will have to possess the following qualities, which Fred has adapted to seemlessly:

Driver: Be on time. Follow the guys, predict where they might be because cell service can be sketchy on the open road, and make sure the car gets cleaned. If you're Fred, you'll do it in style. Shout out to the cheerleaders who washed the SUV and the B2B trailer for their fundraiser!

Photographer: Capture those still moments that we won't get to see.

Videographer: A picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes that's not enough.

Donut Delivery Man: In case you haven't met my family (this is Samantha, Darrell's daughter) you need to know we like our sweets. And when we want them, we want them BAD. So bad, that we will call our diligent driver Fred, to go back 20 miles into Sisters, Oregon, to pick up donuts from a little place Darrell, Steph, Will, and Debbie found on a vacation. I'm not saying it practical, but nobody complained when Fred showed up with donuts, even though they were two days old.

Bicycle Detective: A few days ago, Fred wend ahead of the Dave and Darrell, found a little spot about two miles off and road, and relaxed a bit. Not thinking the boys would make as good timing as they did, when Fred was done with his siesta he headed back towards where they started that day - like I said, not thinking they could have made it past him yet. Well while Fred went one direction, Dave and Darrell pedaled another. They stopped into town had an ice cream and figured they might as well keep riding if Fred wasn't there. While going up a nice hill, Dave and Darrell saw a few ladies on their bikes going in the opposite direction. They exchanged a few hellos and went their separate ways. When Fred finally made it into town he asked around if anyone had seen a couple guys on their bicycles. The same ladies on their bicycles explained to Fred that they didn't see a pair of guys, BUT they did see a nice couple. Needless to say, Fred found the Dave and Darrell shortly after. Thanks to Fred for using hi process of elimination skills!

Technical Tyrant: Following Dave and Darrell is sometimes like following ghosts: when there's no service in the middle of no where, you just gotta go where you think they might be. When Google Latitude fails, our savvy Driver Fred because the ghost hunter, and he hasn't failed yet! Along with that, he's making videos, posting pictures, and updating the blog. when they made a stop in Boise, ID, Fred and I sat down so I could give him a quick tutorial. That night, Fred was hard at work discovering more tools of the trade. I admire you're committment Fred!

The boys will be stopping in Lowman, Id, where they will be greeted by not only Challice Fire Department, but also by some of the family that is still in town. Wish I was still there with everyone, but it was so great to see the guys while I was in Idaho. They look strong and are sporting a wonderful tan. 8 days down, 31 to go!!
